Ryan Kennedy from the Y! Mail team has the URL to my blog. So I decided we could give him some suggestions for Y! Mail Beta:
1-) Conversations in the chat should be saved
2-)It would be cool to be able to change the interface's colour
3-)Webcam and voice support in IM: so cool!
4-)It would be cool to be able to chat with people on Windows Live.
5-)Could we please change the higlight colour
6-)The notepad and the calendar...PLEASE!
Help me continue this list and... some new features might be coming.
Oh and by the way, I sent an e mail to Ryan so he knows about this post.

7-) To be able to add our own emoticons.
8-) More fonts.
Yeah good. I would also add to that:
9-)Conversations in the chat
Oh yeah!
10-)Custom sounds for the chat.
Speed, lightness.
I have switched to the old version and I do not miss a feature from the new version. I just miss the better graphics.
I found the list of attachments and images quite useful. A lot of my work is in Y! Mail and I am glad to have it there.
Searching for something I sent to someone is better than finding a document on the desktop.
I would like a lighter version of the old client, something like Y! groups, with strong searching and messaging functions.
Please remember to use your real name!
Yahoo! mail beta is by far the best, and continues to improve. I think this (long) list of ideas could help the service keep moving in the right direction.
*SPEED is by far the most important piece!
*Calendar, maybe Notepad, and all options should be fully skinned to Y! mail beta eventually.
*It would be really cool if Y! mail beta integrated with your task list. It could show a "# tasks" drop-down menu next to calendar,
just like "# online" next to contacts. It would show a list of tasks, with an X to delete, and a quick add task link on the bottom,
which would open a simple pop-up for adding a task
*Y! mail beta should let you limit searches to specific folders, like "folder:travel airline tickets"
*Y! mail beta should let you search the spam folder. It should also let you search for only messages from your contacts (or only
messages from people who aren't your contacts), like "folder:spam contact:yes"
*In Y! mail beta, the integrated pop-ups look nice, but when dragged flicker all
over the place (at least in Fx). This may be hard to do but this should be
fixed
*How about some TV listings on the Home tab
*The updated "add content" page for adding RSS feeds is a step backwards. It needs speed and a place to input the straight URL
of a feed. Also, there are a couple minor conflicts with My Y! beta which must be ironed out.
*POP and forwarded Emails should be spam filtered
*Y! mail beta could use a good easy way to view ALL messages, like in Gmail.
This could be done without taking up any valuable screen space by making "my
folders" show all messages when clicked on. With this in place, it would also
be easy to view all flagged messages, just view all messages and sort by flag.
*Right now, I'm writing a fairly long message so I'm saving a draft. Yahoo!
mail beta does very easily, as I can at any time save and I am not taken to a
different page, but left to write my message. The one problem is, once I send
this I will no longer want the draft as I will have an up to date copy in my
"sent" folder. After I send I must go to the drafts folder and delete the draft
whenever I save drafts. What would easily simplify the process would be if Y!
mail beta gave a link on the "Message Sent" tab to delete message draft if you
have save sent mail turned on. It could also be set to automatically delete
drafts on message send. I would save drafts far more if there wasn't the hassle
of finding them and getting rid of them.
*This is a little hard to explain, but if you use rich text in Y! mail beta, you
probably notice it. When composing, clicking on B,I, or U enables the
formatting and highlights the B,I, or U. This is good to have your formatting
shown. The problem is if I'm typing in bold and click on text that is not in
bold, the B remains highlighted. Now if I click the B it will turn bold on but
the B will not be highlighted. Once this glitch is fixed keyboard shortcuts
(ctrl+B,I,U) should activate the correct highlighting as well. When completed
this formatting should work like that of Gmial or Word.
*Why must Yahoo! mail beta take you to the inbox when you press [check
mail]. When I check for mail, I only want to go to my Inbox if I do
have new mail. If I already wanted to go to my inbox, I'd press
[inbox] (and it checks for new Emails for me that way as well).
Often-times I hit [check mail] to update my feeds, and thus I want to
stay in the feed tab. Yahoo! mail beta would give the feel of a more
powerful, desktop-like app if it could check for mail in the
background and not disrupt what you're doing.
*Y! mail beta integrated chat is awesome, but there's one big thing it's
missing. Chat archive. I know there is the convert to Email send to yourself
workaround for now, but this is a very helpful tool that should be added to the
product. This feature has been implemented by other online services, like Gmail
and meebo. One question here is where to put the chat archive. One option that
wouldn't take up screen space would be to add a link to it next to "add contact"
in the online contacts drop-down menu. This could open a tab for chat archive,
which could be organized like contacts - vertical pane to select contact and
message on the right. Also, with a chat archive in place, the extremely helpful
"show recent messages" link shown in Y! desktop messenger IM windows could be
added.
*Before Yahoo! mail beta gained chat, Yahoo! users kept messenger
running in the background which provided IM access as well as sound
alerts for new mail, contact sign on/sign off, and sent/recieved IM's.
Now that Y! mail beta supports chat, Yahoo! messenger is no longer
necessary. Yahoo! mail beta with chat provides the sound for IM's but
not for the other events. Yahoo! mail beta needs to fill in where Y!
messenger before provided sound -for new mail and for contact sign
on/sign off. Because Y! mail beta is now a big info source, users
will start to keep it running in the background. It is important that
Y! mail beta alerts users when new mail is found, and sound does
exactly this. These sounds can be copied directly from Y! messenger.
*Y! mail beta with chat shows the number of contacts online, but
provides no notification as to when or who this number increases or
decreases. Y! mail beta should find some way to alert users of
contact sign on/off. It would be great if it temporarily changed the page title
to "bob signed on", "jill signed off"
*In Y! mail beta chat, all contacts with Y! addresses who are online are show,
rather than only those on the messenger list (this is an excellent setup).
Because this is how it works, the checkbox in the quick add contact dialog to
"add to messenger list" is unnecessary and should be removed.
There'll probably be some line spacing problems when I post this, since most of it was copied from messages from the Y-Mail group.

Two more things...
*When setting a custom status message (in Fx, yet to test in IE7)in Y! mail beta chat, for some reason it never shows the blinking text placeholder to show where your text goes. It should show the placeholder.
*When sending IM's in Y! mail beta chat, it often shows a vertical line (the size of the text placeholder) where your IM text stopped after you send the message. This is annoying and should be fixed.

Available chatters shown in list format
Sharing files via chat/messenger
IMAP
Change fonts
Hope that Yahoo mail doesn't become "bloatware."
Two more more things...
*Subfolders should be added. They are a feature of Oddpost that has yet to make it over to Y! mail beta. Y! would really be pioneering to bring these to the webmail plate.
*RSS could use some more options. How about a setting to hide the snippets and an option for an extra RSS pane to select the post and then the whole post would be shown in the main pane.
-James
One more more more thing...
*I'd like one-click access to mail "options". Those other links in the drop-down menu are given on the options page as well, and are unnecessary.
-James
HTML mail composition!
How cool would it be if Yahoo!
mail acted as a WYSIWYG while composing mail!
I see contacts for chat are in list format (my bad). Its the tabs that have requests to be added to the buddy list...wish they were also in list instead of tabs, and also there was a way to directly access a Yahoo profile within chat requests so that we can weed out spammers quicker.
Also like the idea of not having to reload the mail program after changing an option. Also, not always having to delete browser cache to access changes.
One more more more more thing...
*When you view a message that has a very long amount of recipients with the standard header (own tab) it shows only the first several recipients with a link "...more" to show the rest. Once you click the "...more" link, you can't hide the contacts unless you exit the tab and reload it (or change header size). There should be a "...less" link to hide the recipients again.
-James
One more more more more more thing...
*I'd like to be able to be invisible for some contacts and appear online to others
-James
Another cool feature would be to be able to drag empty folders to the trash to delete them...
I'd like to have the option of having sent messages saved to the inbox instead of the sent folder, so they could (1) be downloaded with email clients (for Plus subscribers) and (2) it would save a step sending them to the appropriate folder for keeping.
-The ability to save our attachements in the Y! Briefcase and in Y! Photos
-The ability to attach from Y! Briefcase and Y! Photos
-Integrated bookmarks, briefcase, and photos on the homepage
-Alerts for when contacts come online (Y! does it in the application so why not in Mail?)
When composing a message and click on TO:/CC: in the address line, I would like to see the Classic Yahoo e-mail Contact list that has categories pop-up in place of that ugly window with pages of contacts in alphabetical order by first name.
I would like to organize my contacts in categories in the address book.
Bring back the checkboxes associated with contacts.
YMail needs an option to open new mail messages in one tab rather than automatically opening a new tab for each message. These tabs that are opened automatically have to be closed manually (via clicking the [X] button or using a kayboard shortcut).
If a message tab holds a message in a folder other than the currently-viewed folder, and the user clicks the Up or Down button, the tab closes. This is illogical. Either disable these buttons, or return the user to the folder containing the message.
I'd like to have the option of not seeing the Mail Sent tab everytime I send an e-mail. On my Plus account, I can set that tab to only show up when I e-mail someone who's not already in my contacts.
I'd like to see more font options for composing messages. There's only a limited number of fonts in YMB (free or Plus accounts), whereas on classic YMail there are more font options.
When filling in the address bar on a send or forward operation, I would like to be able to multi-select additional address from the dropdown menu when using autocomplete. Should be able to hold the CNTL key and select additional addresses with the mouse.
Currently you can select only one address then you need to retype your autocomplete leading characters before the dropdown menu once again appears so you can select another address. Then repeat for each address.
